Photoshop CS4 Extended Reinstall

The original installation disc opens the install choices menu, the Photoshop selection is made, 'Install' is clicked, and the program freezes.  How to proceed?

What operating system do you have, have you tried copying the installation media to your hard drive and installing from there

I'm running Windows 10 on a relatively new HP Pavilion desktop. Good idea about installing from the local fixed-disc, and I will try that next.
