You cannot run Photoshop CC (for Mac or ipad) without a subscription.

That explains it. Photoshop Elements is a separate application to Photoshop CC.

Photoshop for the iPad requires a subscription to the full Photoshop CC version

Since you have Photoshop 2020 on your iMac, I assume you already have a subscription.

On your iPad, search the App Store for "Adobe Photoshop Photo Editor & Graphic Design".

Here is the App Store link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/adobe-photoshop/id1457771281

(Be aware that there are a number of older Photoshop-lite apps. Look at the release dates.)

When you open it, log in with the same credientials you use on your iMac.

No. How are you using Photoshop 2020 without a subscription? (Unless you are on the 7-day trail.)

If you only use Photoshop or Lightroom, you can get the Photoshop bundle for about $10 US per month.

Otherwise, you will have to look for a third-party app.

CC is subscription. It is not bought as an upgrade or supplied on disc. The monthly, or annual, subscription gets access to upgrades as downloads. Where did you buy the discs from?

Technically, the Creative Cloud does have a free subscription, but it is very limited (and doesn't include Photoshop, of course).

Creative Cloud does have a free subscription which is very limited, as would be expected. Details here:

https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/benefits-creative-cloud-free-membership.html

Here are the details for Photoshop for iPad, including the four subscription plans. You can subscribe to Photoshop for iPad with an annual plan, payable at $9.99 per month, which includes Photoshop for Desktop.

https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/ipad.html

Note that Photoshop for iPad cannot do everything the desktop version does.
