I've been fighting this problem and it's quite frustrating having arround 20 pen selections and even after saving, if  photoshop crashes, they're gone, having to restart all over again hoping that it wont close again.
Is there any fix for this?

I'm on the latest version of Photoshop.

I agree it's irritating that Photoshop crashes and that should not happen but why don't you save those selections before saving?

There are two steps - Save the path in the document and then Save the document containing those paths.
