hello ...

I just bought photoshop and tried it out for the first time in many years. I had element but decided to upgrade to photoshop. It truly is amazing. OR at least it was ... then I installed the new update and now photoshop keeps crashing. Am I doing something wrong? I am spending a lot of money on this program and can't even use it.

What should I do?

Please help!

Hi

Which exact version are you using? Adobe released two updates this week, the second 22.4.1 was to address some crashes in the first.

What operating system and hardware are you using, are you doing anything specific when it crashes and do you get any errror messages when you see a crash?

Hi,

I open Photoshop up via the Creative Cloud Device. It is version 22.4.1. Most of the time, Photoshop will let me bring up an image, but when I click on a tool the program shuts down. Just now I tried to bring up an image, Photoshop brought the image up then immediately shut down. Ugh!

No error messages.

Try trashing your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings.

(Mac OS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

This action only affects the items found in the preferences dialog box. Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Photoshop Preferences file, including general display options, file-saving options, performance options, cursor options, transparency options, type options, and options for plug‑ins and scratch disks. Brushes (and lots of other setting) are not affected by the above instructions for deleting preferences. You may wish to make a screen capture of the settings in the Preferences dialog to reset them prior to deleting of this file.

Do an actual shut down then after 30 seconds, restart; still crashing?

Try logging into another account; still crashing?

Try restarting into Safe mode (hold down Shift Key); still crashing?

Try running a free utility like Onyx*: still crashing?
