Photoshop: Liquify progress stalled

I am stuck with a spinning wheel in Ps CC on my Windows 10 p.c. I have applied Liquify to a large file (probably my first mistake), I accepted the liquify edit and have been waiting about an hour for it to apply to the image... and the wheel just keeps spinning. I have closed everything on my computer except for Ps with the hopes of it completing it's progress and yet, no luck. I have no idea how long this will take and I really do NOT want to shut it all down just to get out of the spinning wheel. 

Any other options I can try/apply would be helpful.

Have you tried to do the same with a smaller image? Or a different image to see if it works fine?
