Photoshop Memory issues

I updated the most recent photoshop and I'm getting issue where photoshop just grinds to a halt as it's used up all my memory. I have 16Gb installed on an i7 PC and have not had any issue with previous version.  Has something changed in the way Photoshop uses RAM?

I'm having to uninstall the latest version and go back to the last version until this issue is addressed.

Before rolling back the Photoshop version make sure to back-up your presets.
