Photoshop Save Error "Could not build a preview because the selected pattern is not available."

This error just began popping up when I try to save a file; it is a fairly large file being saved to .psb and I have saved files this size and larger successfully before the latest updates.

I have restarted Photoshop.

I have restarted my Mac

I have changed memory settings in Photoshop

I have changed scratch disk settings in Photoshop

Duplicating file and trying to save fails.

Scaling file down fails to save.

Virtually every other recommendation I could find about this issue has been attempted but to no avail. 

Any help from Adobe's team about this issue?

The reason could be a defective preferences file. After backing up the preferences files, I would reset the preferences https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences
