I have been using Adobe Photoshop successfully for over 14 years. One of the tools I use most frequently is the Polygonal lasso to cut round complex shapes. Up until PhotoShop version CC2019 that tool worked perfectly, enabling me to create literally thousands of images. However, since version CC2020 the tool has developed an infuriating bug in the form of an over-sensitive ”Double Click close” . As a result whenever I have half finished drawing round a shape it automatically closes.
This tends to happen every thims and has rendered the tool totally useless to me , which severely limits what I am able to do in PhotoShop.
I still have a subscription to CC2019 on an old computer, which I now use whenever I want to use the Polygonal lasso. That still works fine. But that machine will die soon.
I want to add version CC2019 to my new machine on which I have the latest version of PhotoShop, It used to be possible to revert to much earlier versions, but it now seems that I can not revert to version prior to 2020 when the problem started.
Can anyone suggest how I resolve this problem? either by reverting back to a much earlier version, or fixing the annoying bug? Thanks

Please read this (in particular the section titled "Supply pertinent information for more timely and effective answers”):
You could search
to see if they have the obsolete installers or try customer support ro see if they might grant you temporary access.
But I think you should amend your workflow and use the Pen Tool instead of the Polygonal Lasso Tool in these cases. (And that’s if you exhausted trouble-shooting your OS and mouse/tablet.)

By the way did you try the subject selection? It does a pretty amazing job.

Thanks to both of you for the advice I will try your suggestions . Sorry this is my first visit to the forum, I have been unsuccessfully searching Google for a solution previously
I will also have a go with the Pen tool.

Hi
See this page for the pen tool. Use it to create a path then convert that path to a vector mask https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop/using/drawing-pen-tools.html

Although I agree with @c.pfaffenbichler and @davescm that the Pen tool is 100% better than the Lasso tool, I'll address two points in your post:
In addition, releasing the mouse will also close the Polygonal Lasso tool. You can then add to the selection you have started by adding the Shift key and subtract by adding the Option (or Alt) key.

I do not find that if I accidentally double click and the poly lasso tool close a selection that it is a problem the selection made is usually like part of the selection I want to make using a shift click or alt click I can continue with the poly lasso tool to add or remove area for the active selection accidentally made. I do not have to start all over again I can continue making the selection I want to make. And I often add or remove area from a selection I make that I not satisfied with when using the poly lasso tool..
