When I create a LUT in photoshop I get a message that says 'Document appears to have an active smart filters.  Some filters may not work properly in the converted document depth.'  Then when I try and apply a LUT to another photo, the new photo looks like a color negative.    I've tried turning off the smart filters but then I don't get a saved LUT.

To create a LUT, you need to have a normal background layer as base, and adjustment layers to create the differences. You cannot use smart objects and/or smart filters.

Thank you both for your reply.   I now know I can't use smart objects or smart filtes.   Rookie mistake.

Thanks again,
