Problem with opening an image from Camera Raw into Photoshop CC 2018

I developed a problem today trying to open images from Adobe Bridge via Camera Raw into Photoshop CC 2018. The photo appears properly in Camera Raw, but when I select open image into Photoshop, all that appears is a totally black screen. If I move the histogram slider to the right it changes to a totally white screen, and then black again when I move it back to the left. I cannot get the photo image to appear in photoshop. Does anyone know what the problem is?
