Problem with stacking using "merge to panorama in Photoshop"

I have edited the first pic in a series of 555 of the North America Nebula, in LR. After I was done editing, I selected all the other pics and copied the edit, synchronized (checking all the boxes), then attempted to transfer them to PS, using the "merge to panorama in Photoshop" function. When the next screen pops up in Photoshop, unclick the blend option, then hit okay. The process begins, and I can see it going through every single photograph. It finishes, then nothing. Photoshop goes to its home screen. There are no dialog boxes. No error messages. Both PS and LR function normally, so there is no indication that either of them is attempting to continue to work on anything. I look through my files and I can't find any evidence that anything even happened. I've done this three times, with the same result. What am I missing? What additional setting is there that I need to check on. I would assume that if there was any kind of error, that there would be some sort of message telling me that the program could not continue. I am completely at a loss. I know that I can stack the photos in a different program then open it in PS, but I wanted to try this method. I am using Windows 10, completely up to date, as of 3/16/21. Adobe suite is completely up to date as well.

Are the images a panorama or are they stacked of the same area? Pano and stacked mean different things.

I guess I don't know. I was following the instructions of Ian Norman from
Lonely Speck from his YouTube video of editing Orion. I paused and replayed
his steps several times.

After I finish the edit in LR, I selected all, then I synchronized them.
The next step was to select Edit, then merge to panorama in PS. When the
dialog box pops up in PS, you unchecked the blend images option. After the
images have finished loading, you select them all then convert to smart
object. Then there are a few more steps to get them to the point of being a
stacked image. However, I never made it that far.

After it loads all the images in PS, nothing else happens. I can't see a
list of the images anywhere. I don't see any layers. Nothing. It's as
though all that work up and vanished. The YouTube video clearly shows it
all working as described in the narration. I followed every step exactly as
he describes.

If you want to view the video I'm following, it's under Lonely Speck -
Photographing and Processing the Constellation Orion. The steps where he
takes it from LR to PS occur between the 4 and 6 minute mark.

Not sure if there is an issue with Lightroon, as I don't use it that much. You can stack all the layers through Photoshop, using File>Scripts>Load Files into Stack. Once that is done, you can follow the rest of the tutorial and make a smart object of the layers.

Thank you. I may try that, if I can't figure out this current issue.
