PS CC 2017 freezes when scrolling through fonts

I recently updated PS and now it freezes up (spinning beachball) when trying to select fonts to work with on images.
The app is completely unusable now as I work with fonts and design quite frequently.

The 2015 version was fine, no problems with anything!

Nothing changed on the computer, still running El Capitan with latest upsates.

How do I rollback to 2015 or fix this problem?
