PS CC 22.2.1 - After a few hours of work, after zooming or panning all functionality stops.

So I have an issue and I don't know how to resolve this. There a long stretches of time I digitally paint and after a few hours of working, all of a sudden PS loses all functionality and freezes up right after I zoom or pan on my workspace. I can punch keys and watch my tools change, however my curser retains the shape of an arrow. I can't scroll or pan my screen, but I can save a file and quit PS. If I immediately relaunch PS, I can maybe paint another 30 minutes before it happens again. I have to sit and wait or reboot entirely if I want to paint for a few more hours.

I literally just upgraded my computer so I wouldn't think this is a memory issue, but is it a possible reason for this to happen? Before PS CC 2020 hit, I had zero problems. Hell, I could leave my computer on for a week solid, have multiple launches and work a full six hours with no problems. Specs below.

Hi there, s

Sorry to hear about the performance issues with Photoshop. Could you please try deselecting "Use Graphics Processor" located in Photoshop's Preferences > Performance, then relaunch Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

Sahil

Hi,

Before you go the route of turning off GPU processing on your new computer, check this out.

If you're using a Virus Protection Software or other Security Software set "exceptions" to allow your Adobe product suite (whichever of the Adobe products you're using) to see if that helps. If that doesn't work then perhaps go the disable GPU route. But why lessen your processing power if it's the security software trying to "help" you...

Inevitably when Adobe issues updates, my Ps starts lagging and sliders don't move, etc. until I re-set the exceptions to recognize Ps as okay and not a security threat.

Good luck.

Based on your settings export, you have your Scratch disk set to your main HD first which only has 8 GB available. That will go quickly in Photoshop and cause issues as you progress.

Go to Preferences/Scratch Disk and reorganize your scratch disks to one of the larger ones you have available as the primary.
