I still have the older CS3 extended version and can't not get my cursor back to a regular pointer. I have tried the resizing text on display and resetting tools to no avail. Are there any other options to get rid of this annoying cursor?

What version of windows are you using?
Usually it has to do with the text scaling set in windows itself as described in this KB
