Nothing going right on Adobe Creative Cloud. I haven't so much as drawn a 'stick man' with this over-complicated bunch of software, in the six months I have been here. I can't even get Photoshop to load on my slow computer.

Looks like they are getting their money on time though... while I'm getting nowhere and paying for thin air. I guess it is a cloud... after all. They should just call the whole 'packaged deal' the Adobe Mirage!

I'm just going back to pen and paper. Screw this subscription stuff!

First off: This is a user Forum, so you are not addressing Adobe here, even though some Adobe employees thankfully have been dropping by.

(Edit: I appreciate that you are not addreessing Adobe in yout post anyway, but I just want to point out that a post here will not necessarily register with Adobe or Adobe employees. If you want to post a bug report you can do that over on

Photoshop Family

and it will be registered, though not necessarily answered.)

Secondly: The regulars here are Photoshop users, so they know a bit about problems with that application and with the cloud licensing model. And they are generally trying to help other Photoshop users.

But your post is effectively a rant devoid of meningful information.

So please read this (in particular the section titled "Supply pertinent information for more timely and effective answers”):

Hi Jef, we are not mind readers, so please give us some info:

Please indicate your version of Photoshop and OS?

How much RAM and spare disk capacity do you have?

Can you describe the particular issue(s) you are having and any error messages?

Also, have you tried resetting your preferences – that's almost always worth trying!

I really would just like a single copy of Photoshop to use as a handy tool
to play around with.

But, here's a rough example of what I experience. The only way to
accurately document it for description, would be for me to keep a notepad
handy as I edit photos or create artistic 'doodles'.

I have, from time to time tried to simply open Photoshop, but it is always
a 'drill-down' through the rabbit hole just to get there. Because of all
the 'strata' of extra features it is a wonder I can keep my creative train
of thought, by the time I get there. I even run a few programs to optimize
my computer's performance, and still it takes, at least, two minutes to
'drill on down' to the Creative Cloud main page. Then I hunt around for a
way to start the Photoshop program, just by itself.
Eventually, I guess I'll figure out a way to make a desktop shortcut.

I really just want a simple 'click to open' program to edit photos when the
moment arises. So far I haven't been able to do this.

More than once, when I have attempted to open a file, the program gives me
some warning of some sort, and I can't proceed. Like I said, I would have
to document it.

I'm sure you probably think I am just incompetent with technology or
something. No, I have been on computers since the first Commodore 64 came
out.

Initially, my problems arose from an incorrect sign in. I have a home
network and a few different systems running, so... I get confused
sometimes, but the core issue with Photoshop is just ridiculous.

I learned Photoshop in the late '90's while taking college courses. I owned
version 2 on a 'deluxe' CD, I think. I got comfortable with the basic
functions and could edit photos, very easily, when I felt like it. This is
all I really expect of the program. Just to be available when I need it.

Signing up for this 'package deal', Creative Cloud... or whatever, was not
my intention.

Here's are my system specs:
HP ProBook 6470b Notebook PC Product Specifications
OS Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3230M CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical
Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard 68ICE Ver. F.40, 1/31/2013
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Total Virtual Memory 10.0 GB

This should do it, right? That's what I would think.

For all it's worth, I guess this is still cheaper than buying all of these
features by themselves.
Overall, but it is still not ideal, convenient, or even enjoyable. For me,
it is actually annoying...

I really would just like a single copy of Photoshop to use as a handy tool
to play around with.

So you explain you used an earier version of Photoshop but seem to find the recent version too complicated, is that corect?

If so you could consider getting some training lessons, or view some video tutorials and also asking specific questions on this friendly forum.

For example (you can get 30-days free access): https://www.linkedin.com/learning/photoshop-2021-essential-training-the-basics?trk=learning-serp_lea...

The Photography Plan includes Photoshop, Lightroom and updates plus some storage and costs around $10 a month.

Alternatively you could get a simpler photo application.
