Select Subject

The feature seems to work great but my selection will be replaced with a gray screen.  I can bring it back by clicking on it but it continues to reappear.  See attached.  I am on a Mac Mojave 10.14.6.  Wonderf if anyone else has experienced this?

I upgraded to Photoshop Elements 2020 version in order to use the tool for a project I am currently doing. I discovered the tool sometimes misses part of the person's body and other times includes some background elements which are not part of he subject. Shadows and lighting around the subject seem to be the problem.
