Selecting brightness level

How can I select everyting above a certain brightness level?  Imagine a point on the Levels histogram. I want to select everything to the right of that point.  It doesn't have to be done that way, but it illustrates what I want to do.

A quick way :

1. Add a threshold adjustment layer at the top of your layer stack and adjust the threshold so that it is white where you want to select and black where you do not.

2. Go to the channels panel and Ctrl+Click on the RGB channel

3. Delete the threshold adjustment layer
