Slow brush & pencil tools in Photoshop

I'm using Windows 10 and it had been working fine before the last 2 updates.

When I'm using the pencil or brush tools (in Photoshop) it lags so much that it is impacting my work. I don't use custom brushes, these are the brushes that come with Photoshop. I tried to reduce the spacing on the brushes and that didn't work.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Brush Settings, Options Bar, …) visible? 

Have you tried disabling Smoothing?

Had this exact problem- thanks I had somehow activated smoothing & now fixed!
