Text Tool missing curser

I cant seem to get the curser working with my text tool. So I cannot see where I am going to put text or highlight it to change font or colour etc. Thanks!!

What version of Photoshop are you working with?

If you've upgraded to the latest version, here is a doc that will give you some workarounds for some of the text erros that have been reported: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/known-issues.html
