I receive photos from a photographer and when I open their files in Photoshop2021 the I receive this message.

The embedded ICC profile cannot be used because the ICC profile version is not supported.  Ignoring the profile.

 

I have my color settings synchronized with my applications

When I open the image I am then the Profile

I then save the image. Wanted to check with the group in any issues you see.

Have you checked with the photographer what Color Space they use and which the version the ICC-profile is?

Yes, check with the photographer. If these are out-of-camera-jpegs, many camera manufacturers have their own custom varieties of sRGB or Adobe RGB, and they may not be strictly written to icc spec.

 

If they come from ACR/Lightroom, it's really odd and I can't explain it.

And if it is some version os sRGB assigning Adobe RGB would be a problematic choice.
