I received a Translucent image and am having trouble converting it to opaque. Transparency settings don't seem to help.

Save as a jpeg transparency will be gone. Jpeg does not support transparency. Blend it with a white layer.

It sounds as though you are looking at a file that is a Screen Grab. In that case you would have to choose one of the Selection tools or the Blend If  command to isolate the checkerboard area and replace it with white.  If that does not solve the problem, post the image here so that we can see what you are dealing with.

I got this from a stock agency a year ago and it was fine at the time. The client needs it used elsewhere so I need it flat. See attached...Translucent-Fire-Flame.jpg

It would seem the Useage time-frame for the image has expired. That pattern is designed to keep people who did not pay the current Usage fee can either pay the fee (again) or use the exisiing image for Comps and similar  purposes only. If you don't know the source of the image,  you're out of luck.

Good news!  I just copied your image to my desktop, went to Google Images and inserted your image in the search field. There are very many similar stock images available...some may even be free. Good luck!
