I tried to drag into an image another image shot in my camera. What the heck does this mean? Normally I just drag an image into another for an additional layer. Why this?

What is the Image mode of the current document you are trying to drag an image into and what kind of image are you trying to drag in and how are your Photoshop Color settings set?

I think I now have to convert images to srgb or something else profile. Photoshop didn't used to be this way. I could drag anything in and it would auto convert to the open doc, but OH NO, not now, why make it easy on us.
