What's up with that?

Before I subscribed and downloaded Creative cloud and Photoshop elements I was using Gimp with the side load Darkroom for RAW and Canon Photo Professional. Yeah crazy huh? Bouncing between three programs to edit my images. Actually what's cray- cray here is that was faster than what I got from y'all. CC crashes constantly, repair!?. In a week I've repaired it probably 10 times.

If it crashes and I'm working on something it says y'all can;t verify my subscription and closes it out midstream; which I really need to call BS on. I tried cropping in Camera Raw only twice because it competely locked up my computer for ten minutes. Didn't go with a third go-around...mama didn't raise an idiot. 

I hope you can come up with some fixes quick because editing with dry erase markers on my monitor and taking a phoyoof that would be a far better experience than what I've gotten so far.

That sounds very much like a video driver problem. Crashing is almost always a buggy video driver. Photoshop uses the GPU extensively and a lot of functions depend on a faultlessly functioning GPU.

That seems reasonable at first glance except before I got the subscription and was using three programs to edit they would all be open and I would be either watching a movie or streaming a movie on my second monitor with no problem. Yes they woud go a little slower but I'm sure I was pushing my hardware to the max. I would make an adjustment and might wait a second or two for it to preview but that was it. 

Now I open CC and that's not a guarantee. Just CC and probably 10-15% of the time it either takes forever or says it needs to be repaired, ie., reinstalled. Also I have nothing else running while I do this.

Then I open Bridge, which does well actually until I want a different file. They real wait comes when I open an image in Camera Raw. Here is my process for that.

1. Click on the image

2. Click "Open in Camera RAW" icon

3. Go grab a coffee

4. Step out for a smoke

5. Come back and sometimes it needs another minute or so and other times its ready...50/50

After I finish in RAW I click open and repeat steps 3-5 above.

In the process of doing this CC may topple over like a bad Jenga move and I'm starting all over again. 

If that happens while I'm in Photoshop I can reopen the image but the history is lost. If there is something I would rather have done differently then I'm back at opening the CR2 image in RAW and reopening in Photoshop. 

I like Photoshop otherwise I would have kicked it to the curb for these issues. I'm trading off these inconveniences for an excellent editing program but as I am paying for a subscription I souldn;t have to.

It all seems to center around Creative cloud...the moment that gets a little sideways everything starts swirling the drain. I believe that since I'm on subscription I can't run the rest without having CC open. When I've tried it says it can't validate my product. If there's a work around on that I would appreciate knowing about it.

Form your point of view this might be right, but...

Every software is different. If Gimp and Darkroom are working, that doesn't mean that Photoshop is working also.

Check your graphic driver, take a look if there's a new version. You can also try to do a clena reinstallation of the driver.

Also I am running the older version, 21.2.6 as my CPU is not compatable with the newest.

Yes, Axel is right. This isn't about playing videos in several windows. Any GPU can do that. This is about advanced APIs for letting the GPU do actual data processing, and pass the result back to Photoshop. It all has to work correctly, all protocols need to be correctly executed.

That's where a buggy driver trips up.

Photoshop Elements is a separate application and not part of the CC subscription.

I agree with the others that it sounds very much like you have a driver issue on your system Please open Photoshop and go to Help > System info and click on the "Copy" button. Then paste the info here

That is a very old (2012) GPU with a 2015 driver. I could not find a more recent driver as it is now a legacy product and AMD no longer updates the drivers for it. You may have some luck searching for an AMD legacy driver.

It does not appear to meet the requirements to run v21 of Photoshop which include 512GB dedicated VRAM with 2GB VRAM recommended : https://helpx.adobe.com/uk/photoshop/system-requirements/2020.html

You also have only 4 GB RAM, which is bound to lead to slowness and crashes.

8 GB is considered minimum, 16 or more is recommended.

Florida Light, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but it's the unpleasant truth: this is a very old and underpowered system that cannot be expected to run a professional-grade application like Photoshop. You need to take another look at your hardware if you're going to use Photoshop extensively.

As a professional tool, Photoshop makes no excuses. It's optimized for efficiency, not budget. It's the user's responsibility to make sure it has the hardware resources it needs.

This is going to sound crazy but it's working like gangbusters now. I've been working with it for about 3-4 hours now without a problem or a misfire. I'm running it without CC open, which it wouldn't do before without the validation message. I actually have a memory card with more RAM on the way. I thought that might help things along. 

I understand why the hardware can be an issue, that's why I ordered the card. What I don't understand is why Creative Cloud has all the problems it does when nothing else is open. When I first checked online about it I saw that a bunch more folks had the same CC problem.

If I can keep from having to open CC it may be just fine.

Oh btw, I am aware this is professional grade software so stow the patronizing attitude.
