white and black blinking screen when opening a picture

HELP!

I havent used Ps since high school lolol but ive recently started getting back into photography so i purched Ps and Lr classic. When im in Ps and trying to open a picture to start edting it all i can see is a black and white blinking screen, most of my images are in RAW format, but even when trying to open a picture not in RAW it still does the same thing. Im lost! Help!

Well that sounds horrible. When you say "blinking screen", can you still see the Photoshop interface with panels or does your entire screen go crazy?

 

Have you tried resetting the Photoshop Preferences?

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.
