P: When save a tif or jpg as .png, the icc profile unclick

When I finsh edit for a TIF files ,  I want to save  as a png files, the embeded icc profile unclicked !!

It doesn't like this at CC2020 & 2021....  any idea ??

Why can't I Embed Color Profile (srgb) when saving the document as a PNG? Is there any rule? I can't find a solution after searching through google.

AFAIK Adobe does not support embedding ICC profiles in png files. 

However it seems it CAN be done:

If you search, you'll see there have been quite a few posts on these forums about this,

It's a bug in Photoshop, no idea why it hasn't been fixed.

Use Export or Save For Web, they both embed correctly.

Using Export strips all the Keywords....  this creates a problem.

Is Adobe intending to fix this problem?  Since sRGB is widely use for ecom it would just make sense that first, you can embed sRGB profile and keep all the metadata, which I understand is used for DAM programs.

Anyone from Adobe keeps an eye on this community forums?

I use png format for Facebook everyday. Save a tif to png with  icc  is very common step.  Most browser support icc profile,  I don't know why you unclick this option.

@J453    On Windows 10, Photoshop v23.0.1 does now allow the saving of a png file with an ICC profile via Save As.    

In v22 on Windows 10 ( even the updated v 22.5.3) the ICC profile option was greyed when Save As png was used, but in v23 it can now be checked (although strangely it is unchecked by default)

@davescm  On Win 10 ,  CC V21, V22  DOES  Auto include the icc click box enabled.  no need to click yourself.

I agree, it should be checked by default.

Working with colour management should always be the default in Photoshop, with the option to disable it in very specific circumstances.

I can't believe this still hasn't been fixed in 23.02, but it is killing my workflow and actions that saving as a PNG doesn't have Embed Color Profile enabled by default as in every other version of Photoshop until 23.

Absolutely no issues with the latest version of Photoshop (23.0.2) and embedding ICC profiles:

Saved, opened, profile is seen (previews are correct) with the PNG.

In 23.0.2 on Windows the profile can now be embedded in a PNG using Save As (it could not in the previous version) but embedding is still unchecked by default. I agree it should be checked by default.

Yes, of course, the option to embed profiles is there. My point was that it is not enabled by default as it always has been in previous versions of Photoshop. I'm forced to manually select it each time I save as a PNG, and that manual selection is not recordable with Actions.

So my question to you with “Absolutely no issues...”, did you have to manually select that Embed Color Profile option or was it pre-selected when you saved as PNG?

The not doing so (embedding) specifically by default for PNG is AFAIK by design and not a bug. Discussed here and elsewhere for a few years. I don't necessarily agree that one is forced to click on the checkbox, I don't like untagged data. But at least with PNGs and where they are used, there are some arguments for this behavior.

I think the better argument is for the sake of consistency... to all previous versions of Photoshop (and the expected beahavior because of that) and also to every other format that can be saved out of Photoshop where embedding the profile is an option... that box is checked by default. At the very least, I'd like to have the option to make it the default behavior... given Photoshop's history if it being so.

Just use Export>Save for Web (Legacy), the embedding of a profile is sticky.
