My question is, will they work ok on OSX Yosemite?

You might get it to run on Yosemite but all eventual ensuing problems would pretty much be your own choice.

In general, Apple cares zero for backwards compatibility. For instance, Lightroom 5 color management was completely broken from Sierra onwards. New APIs, dropped support for the old ones. The only option users had was to upgrade Lightroom (or roll back the OS).

With Apple, once the train leaves the station you better be on it.
