Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Which version of Photoshop and OS version?

(Presumably you subscribed – not purchased.)

Make sure all your device drivers are up to date and the machine BIOS is also the latest available. If this still happens run some Memory stress test.  BSOD are usually related to Device Drivers , system and hardware related problems.

In Windows 10 an application like Photoshop cannot crash the operating system. However a driver can. I would start by looking at the GPU driver, ensuring that you have the latest.

If you can open Photoshop (without a document open) please go to Help > System Info and press the copy button. Then paste the info here.

In addition, type reliability into the Windows search box and open the reliability monitor.

Click on the red cross at the time of your crash then on "View Technical details" for the crash. Paste the info here.
