Workflow issue with latest update: Can't use Command + Shift + E when adjusting layer opacity

When using a photoshop action I often adjust the opacity, then press Command + Shift + E to merge the layers. With the latest update I need to click elsewhere before Command + Shift + E will work, I cannot press it while the opacity bar is open. This may seem a minor inconvenience, but an extra click on each layer quickly adds up to a lot of wasted time over the long run.

Is there an option to undo this change?
