Creating an ISO image of a 2 hour 16 minute movie with menu markers and menus (newspaper motif). When I try to burn an ISO image to disk, it spends 25 minutes encoding the menus and the movie, then announces "Burning ISO image", gets to 2%, and hangs. APE will then not exit and has to be force-stopped. A retry fails in the same way.
Windows 10, all up-to-date.
Target disk is 1T SSD with 931 GB available.
Disk diagnostic shows NO errors.
CPU has 16G RAM.
No applications other than "normal" for Win10 are running.
I have created ISO images of this size before with APE 2020 using the same disk as the target. I need a workaround.

I usually recommend as the first step in troubleshooting to make a copy of your project, delete all but 30 minutes of it and see if you can output a 30 minute ISO. You're working with an unusually large DVD there, so the first thing you want to check is if the size itself is part of the problem.

Does the bootdrive have enough room for temp files?

Additional information:
o I cut the video in half (~1 hour) and tried again with the same results
o Watched the system monitor for 30 minutes during the hang: APE was using rougly 20% of the CPU constantly, but there was absolutely NO disk activity
o Boot drive has ~300 G of free space for temp files
On a hunch, I changed the video menu from "News Reel" to one that I've used in the past. This time the ISO image was created successfully quite quickly. So, it appears the problem was with the "News Reel" theme.
I was directed to send the problem to Adobe support, which I did. Their response was to "Upgrade to APE 2021 to see if that fixes the problem". There is a free trial for APE 2021. However, it requires removing (or replacing) my current version (2020) which I cannot re-install. It was purchased online (yes, from Adobe) and downloaded and is no longer available. So the "trial" would have turned into a "purchase", even if it didn't fix the problem. I opted not to take Adobe's solution.
The ISO image was successfully created, so I have my workaround, albeit with a "second choice" menu theme.

You do not need to remove 2020 to install 2021

Perhaps something has changed, but the last time I upgraded APE, it required me -- as part of the upgrade -- to remove the previous version. Thank you for your advice, but as I said in my previous post, I have a workaround so I see no need to take the chance.

Well, that was a waste of money. I finished my project (with the less-than-desirable menus), so I decided to take s chance that APE 2021 would fix the problem. I purchased the upgrade. After a successful download and install, I brought the project into APE 2021, changed to the desired menu, and spent 30 minutes watching it render menus. Only to have it get to making the ISO image and hang at 2% again. Once again NO disk or CPU activity from APE. Thanks a lot, Adobe. Hope you spend my $120 wisely.
