Audio Desyncing after import

New Here ,
Aug 15, 2018 Aug 15, 2018

Hello,

I am having an issue where after I import a video file (MPEG-4 movie) into Premiere Elements the audio is completely desynced from the video. When I watch the video in quicktime the audio is fine, but after import into Premiere Elements it is completely off. After spending about 10 min trying to move the audio back into place it seems that somwhere the audio got completely messed up. This is because it can be matched up in the beginning, but another 1o or 15min in the audio will again be ahead or behind. Thus meaning the audio is not syncing the same as the video.

I have tried with other similar video files to recreate the issue, but haven't had any luck doing so.

Not sure what im doing wrong, But if anyone has any helpful insight it would be great.

This is not really the kind of consumer camcorder this program is designed to work with. It's a $100 program -- not really made to interface with a $3500 camcorder.

I'd recommend you edit with a professional program, like Premiere Pro CC. This video may well be out of this little consumer program's league.

This is likely an issue with your video using a variable frame rate.

Open your video in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy and paste the report it generates to this forum. Once we know what your video is made of we'll be better able to advise you.

Looks like my frame rate for my video is lower than the frame rate for the audio. Is that the problem you are seeing Steve?

I've seen issues with the MP42 codec, but I don't know a lot about it.

Just as a test, try running one of your videos through the free download Handbrake, the world's greatest video converter. See if the MP4 it creates has the same issues in Premiere Elements.

Where did this video come from? Is it from a camcorder?

Ok, I ran the video through handbreak and created an MP4, then loaded that video into Premiere Elements. The audio is still a second or 2 off from the video, which is much closer than the original problem I was having with the audio being 5-6 seconds off.

The video is not from a camcorder. We are using 3 of Panasonic AW-HE40SK PZT Camera with HD-SDI Output. They are eventually being sent to Wirecast V.8.2.0. where we stream and record.

Thanks Steve, I had a feeling that could be the issue. Not sure why the church I work for would spend that much on a camera and then go cheap on the editing software.
