Editing and saving video clips

I want to edit a video clip now in Organizer in Premier Elements, then save the entire edited video back to Organizer with the same filename and filename extension and resolution as the original video clip, only with the filename extension "_copy", just as I would do for a jpeg in Photoshop Elements editor, and not use the "Export and Share" of Premier Elements, which would lose resolution and maybe change file name extension and codec, and then I would have to reimport it back into Organizer  Is this possible?  I want to use the edited clip in a slideshow, and not make a movie.

Because of the way video editing works, you can't edit a clip in Premiere Elements and then save it without recompressing it. It's possible that there is a program out that that does not -- but, because of video editing edits projects rather than the original files, the vast majority do not.
