I couldn't find a group where this fit so I am putting it here.
I updated from Photoshop/Premier Elements from 2021 to 2022 (windows version) last week.
I leave my PC on 7x24 and this morning when I signed in, it seemed to be overly sluggish.
Looking at the task manager, I noted that the 2022 Elements Auto Creation process was taking 89% of my memory and not giving it back.
I contacted support to see if there was a new setting to contol the behaviors of this process and there wasn't.
I never noted this behavior in the 2021 version of the products and updated my catalog to 2022 at installation.
To get the resources back, I was about to kill the process in Windows task manager, but my PC lost the display and had to be rebooted.
It would be nice if you gave the end users some control of this process (like only run with screensaver or defining off hours)
Thanks,
Mark

Without knowing more, my guess is that your computer is updating the Organizer catalog with some of the 'smart' features. Open Organizer, select Edit > Preferences, pick Media-Analysis and uncheck all the boxes. If you want those features, leave your computer running and it will eventually catch up!

Thanks for the reply Bill. I thought of that, but do like auto create feature and have used with every version. This is the only one that I have seen which doesn't seem to want to give back resources. The release is only a few days old so I would suspect a bug. I have had my computer on day and night waiting for it to catch up since I installed 10/8/2021, but every morning it looks like this.
Thanks Bill,

spondie,
Based only on random discussions here, the background processing will finish. I would not yet call it a "bug". It has been part of Organizer for too many versions to be suspect for now.
You can also turn it off in the Windows "Startup Apps" dialog.

If you don't like the word bug, that is fine, I don't think turning off the feature is a fix. I have used every version of Elements and never saw it take the resources that the 2021 version does and had only asked the question. Thanks for the reply.

Hi,
When you start using your computer, Does Elements Auto Creation not get into pause state? Is the CPU still being used? The ideal behaviour should be that CPU usage should come down, it is possible that it may not release the memory that it has been using, but CPU usage should come down.
Thanks
Vipin

I have the exact same issue, for me it is a bug, it sometimes is so bad I can't even log on my computer. It also has side effects on other programs, probably because of memory over use : it corrupted my Itunes library, once also the computer shutdown with a "resource exhaustion" in the event viewer. I know from looking at the resource monitor that the process is stuck on a video, and I had a similar issue with Premiere Elements trying to index the audio...it might be related. I have been a loyal user since Elements 8, but looking now for a replacement for Photoshop Elements, I won't upgrade anymore.
