File importer detected an inconsistency in the file structure of (video).mp4 Reloading and writing this file's metadate (XMP) has Been disabled.
What does this even mean. Here's the story and I know this has been a on going problem for ALOT of people. So I've been using Adobe premiere elements 14 forever now and it worked great. Key word WORKED. I haven't changed the type of videos im editing they're the same length same Codec all that fun stuff. Then a couple months ago it stopped working. I started getting the above error message and it seems like its only my gaming videos that aren't working. I edited videos from my camcord as MTS all together for a montage video and that worked great this morning and all day I tried to edit any other video and it didn't work I tried mp4, 3gp, MTS, mov, etc none worked but the video plays fine when im not trying to import them. More or less I need to know is there a way to fix this or should I just move to a diffrent editing platform because I'm grasping for straws at this point.

Your gaming videos are likely a problem, since most third party screen recorders don't use easily editable codecs. Even if it does produce MP4s.
Open one of the files that's causing problems. Or start with a video from your screen recorder. Open it in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the text and paste it to this forum. Once we see this report we'll better be able to advise you or suggest how you might proceed.

So this is what I got but its more confusing than it should be and let me explain. So below I have a image of the media info and the information it gave me BUT on the very bottom is the original one I sent in text format and thats all it gave me and that was a 50 minute video.
But then elgato also creates seperate folders with the recordings in it but cut up into 15.5 minute segements and for some reason this one gave me a whole lot of information so im not sure what happened to make it come out like this but I hope thats what you needed. (The videos are all the same I tried renaming the videos to see if it would make a diffrence and it didn't in the end) underneath the image ill post the text as well.

This is your gaming video?
This looks more like pretty standard MTS HD camcorder video with 5.1 audio.

Yeah the gaming video is compressed together with another audio channel thats recorded at the same time. maybe thats what your seeing. Not sure. but this file didn't work either in adobe elements. but if it was just like a camcord MTS video it should have worked because I did edit something just the other day with my actual camcord. Those videos were in MTS and worked but even if i format the gaming videos to MTS it doesn't work.

What happens if you convert the video to a more standard stereo MP4 using Handbrake, using the settings I show you in my tutorial?
Although, before you do that, try changing the file extension to .mts and adding it to a brand new project. When you place it on the timeline do you see a yellow orange "render" line above it or is the timeline gray above it?

The same thing happened to me once, actually the ERROR Message ... "File importer detected an inconsistency in the file structure of (video).mp4 Reloading and writing this file's metadate (XMP) has Been disabled. " MEANS, your hard drive is full, free some space on your drive and re-render again, it will work.

alihamas,
Although you've replied to a 2 year old topic, you make a good point. Video editing software of all types needs a lot of disk space for varias needed temporary files.

I've been getting the same issue. Checked my hard drives and i've got well over 2TB free. Locla disk has over 1.5TB free in space. Is there anything more specific I should be doing to solve this issue?

Having struggled with the same problem and troubleshooting for hours I finally found a solution for my problem. I first eliminated other suggested causes/solutions, such as ensuring enough disk space, replacing the media files in the entire sesquence one by one, etc. Finally i came across the solution on Redit: https://www.reddit.com/r/premiere/comments/zq4vsl/file_importer_detected_an_inconsistency_in_the/
Known bug: Don't use foreign characters in your output name or export disk. See if that works
In my case i had Norwegian caracter (ø) in the destination folder for my export. Choosing a different export folders solved the problem.
