Premiere Elements 2025 gives a message saying it will delete my title referencees due to motion or sequence, upon import from Premiere Elements 2020.  Also I'm unable to locate the identical title animations in 2025 that I used in the older versions.  Please assist!

Title should read: importing my Premiere 2020 projects.

2025 is quite different from 2020.

The Titler has had a completer overhaul as in completely different from 2020, hence the message.

All titles will be deleted on import. They are no longer available in the new version.

Nothing you can do about that but finish the project in 2020 if you want to keep your old titles.

Thanks for this reply!  Yes, I want to keep my titles from the old version!  I guess now I need to find a way to extend my old license, as it expired on Nov. 30th!

Premiere Elements 2020 does not expire.  You're 2020 license is "perpetual".   The new 2025 version includes a change to being a 3 year license.   What made you think that the 2020 would expire?

A work around might be to export your project from 2020, titles and animations.  Then use that clip as source footage in a new project.   Not perfect, but can work in some situations.

@Bill Sprague

Some resellers, including Best Buy, are known to have sold limited time versions of "perpetual" Adobe software.

@emiller-mus

Where did you purchase PSE2020?

I purchased from Tech Soup for non-profits.  I received numerous in app messages that my license was going to expire on Nov. 30.  So, maybe there's hope I can purchase the perpetual license for it...

If your 2020 license expired, you cannot renew this.

You are obligated to use 2025.

What year did the titler module switch?  I'm seeing some copies of 2021 and 2023 still available for purchase.  So, if I bought PE 2023, would  I be able to import the animated titles from my 2021 version projects?  I have 3 years of projects created in PE 2020 so continuing with 2025 doesn't make sense for me!

With 2025 the titler changed.

Importing 2020 into 21, 22 or 23 version is always a risk, titles and effects might not transfer properly (this is a known fact).

General advice has always been. Finish in the version you started and start fresh in the newer version.

Good advice to finish in the same version!  .. when possible!  I have some projects that require periodic updating, and the titles are a key part of them!  But now I can't access my PE 2020 anymore.  So knowing that that the titler module was pretty similar until 2025 is good information.  And, yes Bill - good point about being careful who I buy from.  I'd prefer to buy from Adobe if they would sell me a 2023 version!

Be very careful of who you buy older versions from.  There are too many stories of pirated copies, virus problems and installation issues.

Projects from old versions may open in newer versions.  There has not been any titler module change that would be obvious to users.  Instead, each version will have incremental changes.   If the titles (and other added effects) you used remain unchanged the older project will open in the newer version.   But, if the coding for one of them changed, your project may crash.  It may also do damage to the project file so be sure to experiment with copies of project files.

I hope you have saved good copies of finished output from your projects.   Your only choice may be to use them as source files in another video editor of your choosing.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
