Dec 03, 2020 Dec 03, 2020

hi  I have video with sound I have  imported to premiere 2020 and try to play it .The video plays ok but I have no sound although there is a audio graph showing .  The video plays ok when I run it elsewhere but I want to edit it in premiere .  Has any body any clues to what causes this to happen ?Previous playbacks a few days ago were ok. Something has changed

Sir thank you for trying to help me . I'm pleased to say I have managed to
resolve the problem by finding the
microphone setting on my laptop was off. . It seems very peculiar to me. I
found this under " privacy settings" and why a microphone setting should be
there I can't say and why microphone rather than speakers setting again is
odd to me. However , it does now work thankfully .
Thanks for you interest

Mac or Windows and exactly which version of your operating system?

Have you recently done an operating system update?

On my Windows system I alternate between a Sony wireless headset and the computer's speakers.   I have to manually change the Audio Hardware  "Default Output" in Preferences.   The computer will shift automatically when I activate the headset, but Premiere Elements (not Premiere Pro) will not follow.

are you saying this overcomes the issue but not automatically. when I check
preferences it says the speakers are not working ,
When I play the file elsewhere they are working fine so I'm puzzled .

"are you saying this overcomes the issue "

Yes.  Video editors have to process in "real time".  It is not the same as simple playback.  You have to control and monitor where you want the real time process to send the audio.   Maybe it could, or even should, be more automatic, but its not.

Try below steps:

1. Launch PRE

2. Go to Edit -> Preferences -> Audio Hardware

3. Change Default output value

4. Click Ok and then try

If this doesn't resolve then can you please share the Premiere elements logs.txt file after click on playback button Path: C:\Users\<your_machine_username> \AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Elements\19.0\logs

Thanks, Gaurav
