Moving a project from Elements to Pro

Hello! 

I need to move my project from Elements on Windows to Pro on a Mac. It won't let me open the project on mac becuase it says it does not have the program to run it (elements, which is true, it only has pro).

You can not  open a Premiere Elements project in Premiere Pro. They are two very distinct programs.

is there a way to change the file format at all or am I completely out of luck?

You can export an mp4 and import into Premiere Pro, but you won't be able to change any of the edits done in Premiere Elements.

I don't know how it works or if it works well, but if you open a Premiere Elements Project in Pro, you get a dialog that says it may actually convert the project!
