My premiere elements 14 is lagging! Does anyone has a solution for this?

I'm trying to edit a video and my premiere elements 14 is very slow. My thumbnail and sound is not matching up so I am unable to edit. Please Help

What operating system are you using? Which processor does your computer have with how much RAM?

What model of camcorder is your video coming from and what format and resolution is the video?

If you look under Premiere Elements' Edit menu, what is listed on the General page under Project Settings?
