? Need a new driver or ?

Hello, I am using Premier Elements 10 with max memory on my laptop.

Yesterday, received a message from Premier Elements that I need an update for the playing driver.

Contacting Tech Support for the computer, no new driver was found.  (The day before, a Radeon driver had been installed.)

Meanwhile, I am getting cursor freezes and general lack of cooperation from Premier Elements that I have used since ? 2011.

Perhaps, this means I should upgrade to PE 15,

but I expecting the computer to fail, so that would be a waste.

I am using OS 8.1.  Tried OS 10, but PE 10 was not friendly.

Suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks !

Go to the website of the graphics device or wherever the "new" driver came from and "rollback" to a previous driver.

Once you've updated your driver, set your Folder Options to Show All Files, then go to C:/ProgramData/Adobe/Premiere Elements/10.0 and delete the BadDriver.txt file -- then start up the program.

I'm concerned though about both Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements going buggy -- particularly since you're using pretty old versions of the program on a pretty old operating system. I'd say an upgrade to more current versions of the program would be very wise.

thanks, Steve G. Taking your comments seriously and will attempt to deal

with the first part, tomorrow evening.

As for the upgrade of PE. Do you know if I need OS 10 for an upgrade of

PE15? If I do, can I install in my old machine and later use that to

install a newer machine?

Thanks for your comments, Steve G.  I read them to the rep from Dell's Tech Support and I believe what you wrote inspired them to look further.  They installed another driver (when previously they said none was available) and I will see how that goes.

Also, thanks for encouraging me to go to PE 15.  When I get some time, I will contact Adobe Customer Service and see if I get PE 15, now, would I be able to transfer it to a new computer when this one goes.

Best wishes for You !

According to the system requirements, Premiere Elements will run on Windows 8.

I am not sure whether a solution has been found. Will keep the question

open for a few more days.

Thanks!
