Premier elements 15 crashes every time i drag a video clip to the timeline. (Mac Catalina) Ideas?

Catalina was released in October. Has it worked since your new OS?

What is the format of your video and what model of camcorder was it shot on? Have you been able to edit video from this device on version 15? 

Any other specs you can offer re your computer can be helpful. The more details you can give us, the more likely we can help.

This is my first video since Catalina. The video footage is mpeg2, which is
the same format and recorded with the same Sony camcorder as all of the
previous footage that I successfully used with this software.
I finally gave in and converted all of the footage to .mov format, and
it is working. Is there a better way?

You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the program.
