My firewire card is working and my Windows 11 desktop computer can see my camera but nothing happens in the caprure window of P.E. 2023. It will not see a Panasonic NV-DS38 DV camera either. Is Premier Eleements 2023 capable of capturing these format. I purchased it because I thought it did. What am I doing wrong. Both are
You can use the software Peru Bob mentioned. Capture to HDD and import into Elements but
If the capture feature which no longer excists is the only reason for buying the product, you can ask for your money back within 1 month of purchase from Adobe.

Firewire capture is no longer supported.
I think Premiere Elements 13 was the last version in which it was supported.
You can use these programs for capture:
WinDV WinDV
HDVSplit HDVSplit 0.77 beta

Thank you Peru Bob I will use them if needs be, but why do they have a drop down menu whch says capture from a camcorder ? Maybe as you say not HDV, but it specified it some where or so I thought anyway.

As far as I know, PrE no longer does firewire capture

--ALL versions of Windows from 7 through 10 (and 11 ?) need the legacy driver!
I have NOT used it, but many say to try this for HDV capture

Thank you John T. for your help I check on the legacy driver for my StarTech.com PCI express FireWire card, it said the driver is up to date and working. I will check your link. Thanks again for your reply.

Thank you Ann Bens for your reply. It is something I will consider, though I fancied it as an editing software package too.
