OK...this is a problem that no one really seems to have a handle on!!!??? When I import a video file onto the timeline (it doesen't matter how I do this), the audio track is blank, although the audio plays when I am in "Media Player." It seems to be mostly ".wmv" files, but I have experienced it on some ".mpg" files. THIS IS NOT A HARDWARE PROBLEM! if it where, it would happen on every file I tried to import. I have recently noticed that if I restart "Premier Elements" these files will sometimes import with audio, but not always. I hope Adobe can figure this out, sence my research would seem to indicate that this has been a problem going back to ver 2020, as well as the "PRO" version.
Thanks for listing,
Wayne
btw, I do like this program, just wish this could be figured out.

I agree with Ann. It sounds like an issue with the audio codecs being used by those files.

Have read about the "codecs" issue on other forums. Not sure that is the answer, since these files played just fine in W10, but seem to have problems even playing in W11. I often get the dreded "Window Media Player encountered a problem..." see attached file, but that's another issue. Right now I am more concerned about what happens to the "audio" track when I import the files into "Premier Elements." The fact that sometimes they are there and other times they are not. As I said in my original post, sometimes restarting PE and re-importing the files works...baffling.
Thanks for your responses, and thanks for listing.

When a file plays fine in a media player does not mean it will play/import into an editing program. There is a big difference.
Hence the request to post a screenshot of the clip in Medianfo in Treeview.
