I am using Premier Elements 9 on Windows 10 - and getting the following error while loading a .m2ts file:
This type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed.
So I attempted to download Premiere Elements 9.0.1 Updater, but received the following message:
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
Could anyone offer advice please?

Premiere Elements 9 doesn't support .m2ts.
It was not supported in Premiere Elements until version 10.
Convert the files to mp4.

According to the manual it does support m2ts, mts and m2t.
Make sure Quicktime is installed.

My start with Premiere Elements was with version 9. I had a brand new, then state of the art, Pansonic SDT750 camcorder that recorded 1090p/AVCD/.mt2s. It is a big if, but I think I remember that I had to trick it by setting up projects with half the frame rate. I had Quicktime installed. It worked on a Windows laptop.

I have installed Quicktime and then tried to import m2ts or .MOV files.
I have found that I am getting the 'file is not supported' error if I attempt to load ANY file including jpeg files

Stuarte,
Version 9 is so old by computer standards, it is going to be nearly impossible to help guess what to do to help you. The operating system environment has changed and none of the support files are available from Adobe servers. There may not be a way to fix this for you.

Thank you Bill. I have come to the same conclusion
