I edited a load of short clips Saved them to a folder
The folder disappeared. My project became corrupled with lots of red multi languade bits of text and then disappeared
Is this a virus?
Checked with Mcaffee nothing shown
You are seeing the missing media screen.
Premiere Elements doesn't embed the media used (videos, photos, or audio) in the project file. It acts as a pointer to where the media used in the project is located. If the source media has been moved, is on a drive not connected to the computer, or on a drive that doesn't have a fixed drive letter, Premiere Elements doesn't know where to look for your media.
Premiere Elements doesn't delete files or folders.
What is the physical location of the video files?
Are your files located in a folder on your computer hard drive?
OR Are you editing from an SD camera card in an adapter?
OR Are you editing from a USB flash drive?
As Bob and John suggest, you may not be using the software in the normal work flow. But, if in fact you do have corrupted files, you have a hardware failure. This software won't do that.
I am using elements in the normal way
I am new to videos but have uses photoshop elemets for years. I have been using 2021 version for a year
Who can I send a project folder to? Is it safe to drag and drop here?
I would not be using "One Drive". Put you project assets in a standard folder on your primary drive. Have your project and output file there too.
That might be the case that it is not the best but I can assure you the problem I have identified is not a onedrive issue
Here is a screen shot of the problem
Do you have backups of the media?
Did you try relinking the media?
Yes I have backups
All the video clips are stored elsewhere on One Drive
I have sent a screen shot
Can you copy the files to your hard drive and try to relink the files?
