Hi,
I am mainly an amateur photographer
I purchased Premiere Elements 10 in a bundle with Elements 10 some y7ears ago.
I have updated Elements Organizer and Editor a few times since and am now using Elements 2018.
I have never been much into Video and have never used or updated Premiere Elements 10.
I now want to use Premiere to convert my Organizer Albums into slide shows but am having all sorts of problems. I am an active member of the “Elements and More” forum and Sepiana suggested that I contact you.
In the tutorial am advised that Premiere 10 does not accept image sizes larger than about 6 mp. and that I should resize the images:
if I am using standard definition out put they should be resized to 1000 x 750
If I am using HDV they should be resized to 2000 x 1500
Some of my jpg images are over 10Mp after processing
If I resize them as above will I be compromised quality for viewing on a large TV screen?
My main problem is however that I am seem unable to access the Start screen, which I see on all the video tutorials, which will give me access to the type of editing and Guided Edits.
I access Premiere Elements via the Welcome page
I only have three options ORGANIZE NEW PROJECT OPEN PROJECT ( see attached image )
If I select NEW PROJECT:
Somehow I seem to have missed a step that would give me access to the START window, where I would have had access to ELive, Quick Guided or Expert levels of editing and the editing Toolbar.
I now use the functions available in the “Project” window: (See attached image )
I pressed the play button in the preview window in the top left third of the window.
The red timeline moves along the time line but displays only a few random images, the others are not displayed. Of the 35 images only three were displayed?
I have read the relevant slideshow section of the Guide to Premiere 10 and watched the tutorials, but I can't get my screens to look like the screens illustrated and I can't get a Slideshow to work.
Having watched the tutorials I thought it would be a breeze. I have spent all of Saturday afternoon and have nothing to show for it. I was hoping to be able to turn my albums into slideshows on demand, using the additional facilities available in Premiere rather than the basic slideshow offered in Elements Organizer.
Can you help me?
PS I saved the project after I had added the transitions and now, on re-opening the project all the images in the project window are blurred as if not connected to the correct folder.

Two ideas that MAY work to install and/or run old programs in Windows 10
-RIGHT click the program icon or EXE and select a compatibility mode in the pop up option window
-and/or select Run as Administrator to assign FULL Windows permissions

Hi Nigel,
Adobe Premiere Elements 10 was released ten years ago. If you have no experience in Premiere Elements and you are attempting to try and learn how to use it for the first time, you've got to make sure you're only using training material that was developed for Premiere Elements 10. Otherwise, you are only going to make life very difficult for yourself as you waste time looking for menu options, dialog windows, and settings that don't exist in the version you are actually using.
For example, Quick and Expert views were not introduced until Premiere Elements 11; Guided view first appeared in Premiere Elements 12; and eLive was new for Premiere Elements 13. So whichever tutorials you are using, they are definitely not targetted at Premiere Elements 10.
As you've already discovered, because you are using Photoshop Elements Organizer 2018, you can't directly connect to your albums via Premiere Elements 10. That means a lot more work on your part to populate the slideshows with the images you want to use.
Regarding the quality issue, have you right-clicked inside the monitor panel and chosen Playback Quality > Highest ?
Another issue is how do you expect to view the slideshows you are trying to create on a TV?
Are you hoping to create a CD, DVD, Blu-Ray?
And are they just for your TV, or for sharing and viewing on a variety of TVs?
Honestly, if you have a decent, newish TV it probably has a USB port and built-in software that will take a bunch of JPEG images on a USB stick and automatically play them as a slideshow, without all the time and hassle you're putting yourself through.
But if you want to take full control of the slideshows, get your images into Premiere Elements in the easiest possible way, output them at the highest quality possible on the widest range of media, you really need to think about purchasing the Adobe Photoshop Elements 2021 and Premiere Elements 2021 bundle. You can always download the 30-day free trials of each application to see how you get on with the whole process and then consider whether you think the upgrade price is worth paying 🙂
Hope that helps 🙂

Hi,
Thank you all.
As I only intend using Premiere for slide shows, shelling out for Premiere 2021 seems a bit steep for me.
I will have to revert to using Faststone Image Viewer to set up the slideshows.
Unfortunately this only saves as an .exe, which sometimes has security issues.
But by spending $10 I can purchase Faststone capture which can convert the .exe to .wmv file.
I don't get the options available in Premiere but I will have to live with that.
Thanks again.
