I recently had to buy a new laptop. Then, I purchased the new Photo elements premiere. It is having codec problems. Now you are telling people to download an older version. This is very wrong. I have always loved this program. I have been upgrading since you first came out. Now I am angry. If you are telling us to use an older version then I want a refund. No sense in me having this version if it is not going to work. I don't have patients in figuring out how to make it work or downloading old versions.

Hi jenniferr11290975,
I am moving the thread to Premiere Elements space for assistance.
Thanks,

Are you asking about Premiere Elements or Photoshop Elements, Jennifer? They're very different programs. Premiere Elements edits video while Photoshop Elements edits photos.
You should not be having codec issues, particularly if you haven't in the past. The program supports all of the codecs it used to. In fact, version 2018 includes more codec support.
Which version of the program are you using on what operating system?
What format of video are you editing at what resolution and frame rate? Where is this video coming from?

I have both elements and premiere. I have used your program for many years
and keep upgrading. I upgraded to 2018 and now I am unable to edit videos
from my wildlife cameras that I have had for 3 years. The past prieme
programs worked fine?? This is very frustrating! It keeps saying "CODEC"
problem.

Also note that these are not "our" programs. This is a user to user forum. Not Adobe.
But I'm sure we can help you out once we know what we're dealing with.
As Bob says, we need to know more about the video you can't edit.
