Are you saying that rendering does not change the orange line above the timeline green, or are you saying that the line turns green but the timeline still doesn't play smoothly?

Please post a picture of your timeline. I am sure your Work Area Bar is not covering your video.

Thank you for the screen picture. Can you see how the area along the top of the timeline is dark gray? That is because your Work Area Bar is not extended over your timeline, and that is the reason it is not rendering.

Either move the Work Area Bar ends to cover your movie or double-click on the timeline where the times are indicated. This should make the Work Area Bar cover your movie and your movie will render.
