send to premiere elements from lightroom

why is this not possible- or is it...?

i can trim a video clip in lightroom. I ought to be able to send the clip to edit in premiere elements, yeah?

I just want one place where I can preview, trim, tag, and then send to edit my files. It drives me crazy that lightroom does basic video editing but doesnt allow for sending to edit. means i need to use a seperate organizer (such as organizer!) but then are any changes (like to keywords) registered within lightroom?

thanks!!

Lr is part of the CC subscription. Premiere Elements is not, its a totally different program. They are not intergrated.

The may not be "integrated" but they work very well together if you find and understand the "As Original" option in Export.

I created a personal workflow for Premiere Elements video several years ago that starts with Lightroom.  My cameras use SD cards and record both stills and video.  Lightroom's Import process is a good way to get all of them from card to computer and be organized.  I ignore Elements Organizer.

Because I have a SSD that helps make video editing quick and smooth I decided I would create dedicated folders on the SSD for individual projects.  For example, I will create a folder like "Trip to Coast".  In that folder will be sub folders for assets and output.  In Premiere Elements preferences, I make all the scratch disks go to that same folder.

With all my clips starting in Lightroom, I will do the rough cut of deleting the garbage and marking the better stuff.  I like working on copies.  Lightroom has "As Original" in the Export choices.  So, after selecting clips I want to work with, I Export "As Original" to the specific specific project folder.  Exact copies of the original are put into the project folder.  All the trimming and other editing is done in Premiere Elements.

In other words, the short version is that Lightroom is very good and managing all the media and Premiere Elements is superior for editing.

An odd bonus with Premiere Elements is how it handles RAW files.   If you turn on the option to record adjustments to XMP files in Lightroom, Premiere Elements will see those adjustments when it imports the RAW still files.  Premier Pro can't do that.

Another benefit is that you can move the entire project file with all of its parts somewhere for storage and then return it for further work.

Thank you for sharing your process. I've heard this approach before.

Man, all I really want to do is make little clips from home videos. previewing, trimming, cataloguing and sending to edit is what I need. doesnt seem like asking too much...

anyhow, thanks for response.i'll use it when I am doing a more involved video.
