After adding several videos to the timeline, can you go back and insert an additional video to the very beginning of the timeline, or only at the end of the timeline?

Yes. You can insert video anywhere you want on the timeline. Sometimes it can cause confusion over exactly how the clips and tracks to the right of the insertion "ripple" to new positions. In a simple, one track video, everything moves right. When there are more tracks being edited the results change based on techniques used.
