Video appearing purple and green

I'm trying to learn this software as someone with little experience with video editing, and when I try to put a clip into the timeline, it appears distorted and pink and green. My laptop is a LENOVO IdeaPad 320s-14IKB. Can anyone help me fix this issue?

I tried this. It did not help. I was thinking of getting this software for the rest of my team but am very concerned about this issue. It makes the software worthless to us. Is there a fix?

Yes. Updating your graphics card's driver from the nVidia, AMD  or Intel sites rather than trusting Windows to do it.
