Can I import from Different media into 1 Project?

Hi

Title says it all really. Can I import from different sources IE; AVCHD,DSLR and WMV into the same project.

I ask this as I I obviously need to select my media source and there does not seem to be a way to set from multiple sources.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you can. Though the greater variety of sources, the more stress it's going to put on the program and your system.

Are all of the video clips 1920x1080 resolution and 30 fps?

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that there does not seem to be a way to get multiple sources. If you've copied all of the video to your hard drive, you can import it all into your project using Get Media/From Files and Folders.

Sorry probably didn't explain myself clearly. I can indeed copy any of my various formats from my hard drive. What my question is, is when I start a new project I am prompted to change settings and to make a selection from the available presets regarding which format the recordings were shot in. As I have various formats i would like to use, as described previously , I am unsure on which preset I need to use. If it does not make a difference why bother changing anything except from NTSC to PAL?

My suggestion is to ignore the choices and take advantage of Premiere Elements automatic project setting.  To do this you go past the manual choice options.  Load some of the media you are using.  Then pick a "primary" clip and put it on the timeline.  The project will be set to match. 

The other alternative might be to force a project setting manually based on expected output.  Edit preview rendering might get bulky if your computer is less than the best. 

Ultimately, you might have to try it different ways and see what you like.

The project setting will be the same as the first media placed on the timeline, so different size media will appear differently in the timeline than if matched to the project settings.

I try to base my project settings on the specs of the main video I'll be using in my project.

As I said, the more variance in your video formats, the more it will stress the system. If most of your video is AVCHD 1920x1080, set your project up with those settings so that at least that video will flow smoothly through your project.

Thanks all for the advice. As it was all shot over the years on different cameras and formats there is not a lot I can do. I will do as advised and pick a primary source and see how I get on.
